Because wood wick candles are made with natural wood, every single piece is different that could cause your candle to burn a multitude of different ways. Many people have struggled with keeping them lit so here are some tips and tricks to make sure your wood wick candle burns well!
1. Trim the wick
Wood wick candles should be trimmed to be no longer than 1/4 " - 3/16" above the wax before lighting every time. When the wick is too long, it will not pull up the wax to keep it burning.
2. Tap off ash or burnt wood before burning
This step will also eliminate excess ash from falling into the wax pool as you burn.
3. First burn is important
Always make sure that when you first light a candle, you burn it till the wax pool reaches the edge. This will ensure that your candle burns evenly throughout without tunneling.
The flames at times might seem to go out but will come back and it might take a few tries before the fire stays lit.
